Prologue 1/2: Privilege of Passage

Updated: Apr 3

EVERETT, PA —

March 23, 2024

T-2 Days:

We are nearly at our final stop before the walk begins tomorrow morning on Rehoboth Beach, Delaware.

A huge thank you to my dad, George Foor, for taking some PTO to drive my crazy behind all the way out here. On our way down from Michigan, we visited the first town a Foor ever settled in on American soil—Everett, PA. Many of us still reside there. We stopped at the family cemetery in Ray’s Cove as well to pay homage to our ancestors who immigrated from the German state of Bavaria some decades before the Revolutionary War. The vast majority of us are immigrants in this land, a simple fact we so often forget, particularly in our actions. I must be mindful of this in the months ahead.

We are entitled to nothing, and so it is a privilege to strap a pack to my back and walk as though I am home, with the spirit of Greg Mans in tow.
