Our
Story
Zach and Greg met at The Recovery Project, a neuro-specialized physical therapy clinic in Livonia, Michigan, shortly after Greg suffered a spinal cord injury in 2020 that left him paralyzed from the neck down. In our time working together (Zach as a rehab technician and Greg as a patient), we became good friends and gained inspiration from each other in our shared passion for the outdoors, radical/wild places, hiking, adventure, and a common love for writing. It is through this bond and in support of those things that brought us together that we aspire to help others on their own recovery journey. Where Greg's steps left off and he journeys towards rehabilitating simple arm and finger movement, Zach walks coast-to-coast, east-to-west along the American Discovery Trail in Greg's honor. They will join each other on their journeys through words, art, pictures, and videos. Through your support and donations, at the walk's conclusion, we will provide the Certain Steps Writing Workshop, a special free eight-week virtual writing program designed for those affected by paralysis and for their caregivers. The workshop will be hosted by teacher and author, Peter Markus, who will explore with participants how words pave new ways and definitions of mobility with an emphasis on change, overcoming adversity, healing, and growth. One-third of all workshop donations will go towards Greg's personal care to benefit his quality of life.

Thank you for walking with us. Step by step, we do recover!
